We keep on downloading/creating various files (music,videos,documents etc.) on our computer as a result we have lot of documents which becomes difficult to manage. Having plenty of documents for quite common when it comes to office environment so I have decided enlist some freeware which should help you to manage files more easily.

Duplicate file Killer: Duplicate files cause unnecessary strain of system resources. You can easily free up hard disk space by removing unnecessary duplicate files with “Fast Duplicate File Finder”. The application will analyze the content of the files in order to find similar files and not just file attributes like name and size as the standard duplicate file finders do.Fast Duplicate File Finder will help you find fast all duplicate files in a folder and its sub folders even if they are using different file names.
Organize them in Folders: You can also reduce the clutter by moving files into a directory with same name as file name. This Task is accomplished by file to folder application. The application creates a Folder from any File Name and move the File to its newly created Folder. It gives you option to filter files, include subdirectory and get a preview of how it will look like when you hit preview. You can select at root level and include all sub-folders or register the application with the shell and "right-click" any file you wish to have it's own folder created based on its name and moved immediately into its new folder.

Split up large files to smaller pieces with GSplit

Many times when you may have to send some video or file to your friend, but you can’t send it because your email has a quota on attachment size and your file is of large size.These files can not be added as a attachment or uploaded to some free upload sites. So to send those files you will have to split those files into small parts, after that you can upload them as a attachment.

A free application,GSplit,can be used to split large files into smaller files. Of course ,it goes without saying, that you can again join the files after receiving it at the recipient's side.

To split a file follow these steps

Click the browse button under the General tab and locate the file you want to split.
Select the location to save the smaller pieces of files in the Destination folder under the General tab.
Click the Split button in the Split File under the General tab. By default, files created are self uniting blocked pieces type of files.

To restore the small pieces of files follow these steps

Double click the first part of the small pieces, it is usually named as disk1. The GSplit self-uniting window will appear. Select the location where you want to restore the file then click the unite button.
The files will be restored to the location selected by you. The output files are numbered and you simply execute the first one which will combines the pieces almost instantly.
The Best thing is that since the pieces are self-restoring, you don’t need to install GSplit to those receiving your split files.

Bank ATM get equipped with Pepper Spray

Now South African’s has equipped itself with new technique to protect itself from thieves. According to media reports, a bank in Cape Town, South Africa, has installed its cash machines with pepper spray to deter criminals from tampering and stealing money.The idea is that spray incapacitates you while the cops come out. Unfortunately, they've also been known to incapacitate the poor bastards who install them by randomly firing capsaicin at them.

The technology uses cameras to detect people tampering with the card slots.Another machine then ejects pepper spray to stun the culprit while police response teams race to the scene.The extreme measure is the latest in South Africa's escalating war against armed robbers who target banks and cash delivery vans. The number of cash machines blown up with explosives has risen from 54 in 2006 to 387 in 2007 and nearly 500 last year.

Patrick Wadula, spokesman for the Absa bank, which is piloting the scheme, told the Mail & Guardian Online: "During a routine maintenance check at an Absa ATM in Fish Hoek, the pepper spray device was accidentally activated.

But it seems that banks may have to use some other ways to tackle criminals

SEND SMS FREE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mobiles have become a part of our life and so are the sms . Eventually as a greedy human being i felt the need of sending free sms and saving some bucks. After googling for a while i came across many services some of which i have been personally using from a long time.

A List of some of the services are as follows :

160by2 : This site i have been using from a long time. A WAP version of this site is also available which i use for sending free sms . So this is actually a good service but the one thing which i hate about them is they allow only 80 characters to be sms other 80 are for advertise.

REDIFF MESSENGER : You can even send sms using this service truly speaking this was the first service i had used to send free sms. Again the problem here is that you can only send 3 sms for sending more sms you will have to wait for recipient's reply.

WAY2SMS: Even this is a nice service allowing us to send up to 110 characters per sms . They claim to have a WAP site at m.way2sms.com . But i could never open it using my mobile browser.

SMS GUPSHUP : Well this service is comparatively new to me new. According to me it is the perfect mobile service just login and send sms to all your friends.

MYCANTOS : This is basically a social networking site where in you can send free sms to anyone. It allows 120 characters per sms . It is also present in Orkut in form of an application which can be added to once profile and then used to send free sms.

YAHOO MESSENGER : Even yahoo messenger allows you to send free sms to india similar to rediff. With yahoo you may also send sms to some other countries.

FREESMS8: This was new to me , it claims of empowering users with hassle-free way of sending SMS free of cost to any mobile in India.

SMSFAME : This is a wonderful tool to send free sms to friends. And the better part is that it is allows us to send 160 characters per sms!!!!!!!!GREAT….

Microsoft launches its new free Antivirus

From a long time , gossip has been in the air that Microsoft is probably going to launch new antivirus ever since it discontinued “Onecare” Antivirus. Microsoft revealed it yesterday and it is now available for download on their website.

The new free antivirus software is codenamed as “Morro”(after a beach in Sao Paulo in Brazil) is actually called ‘Microsoft Security Essentials’.Microsoft claims that its free antivirus gives full protection from Viruses, Spyware, Rootkits, and Trojans, similar to other paid enterprises antivirus software. "Morro" is likely to to compete with other anti-virus products from providers like symantec , kaspersky , AVG etc.

"Morro is essentially a stripped-down version of Microsoft's failed OneCare product. It didn't offer adequate protection when it was payware , and it offers even less as freeware"
